Obama’s Past Has to Come Back to Haunt Him

Filed under: politics — Tags: , , — edge of the sandbox @ 8:18 am

The Obama campaign must be scrapping the bottom of culture wars because they were probably fed Washington Post the unfortunately-sourced Jason Horowitz story on Romney, the bully.  It is being alleged that the straight-laced high school jock Romney once teased a “non-conformist” who might have been gay.  Blogging buddy and an all-boys high school graduate Capitol Commentary recalls a similar incident at his alma mater.

What the Obama campaign is doing is pitting jocks against fags (and by “fags” I mean, broadly, all of us arty types).  WTF?  It’s like Dan Savage lied to the kids when he said that “it gets better”.  Per Mr. Horowitz the bullee John Lauber never got over his teenage wounds.  The family of the late Mr. Lauber is up in arms, by the way, because theWashington Post made him up to be some sort of a loser.  He sounds like a cool guy.

I’m far behind the curve with this post, and I was thinking about giving it up completely, but apparently Sean Hannity is still milking the bully controversy for all it’s worth because it opens up the door for criticism of Obama.  A few days ago I was driving my kids around when he played quotes from Dreams from My Father remixed with The Who’s Teenage Wasteland.  Great idea!

He sampled the infamous passage of Obama’s first alleged autobiography where ‘Bamster admits spending the last two years of high school “in a daze”.  Question: if he spent the last two years of high school in a daze, how did he get into Occidental where we know he spent the first two years of college?  Of course, it is altogether possible that Obama was a great student, and that the protagonist of Dreams is a composite character, say part Barack Hussein, part some Weather Underground loser, but we all suspect that our President was an Affirmative Action baby.  Given his melanin status, he’d be a fool not to mark the “African American” box on his application.  Methinks that a son of two Doctorates of Philosophy should not require preferential admission.  Elizabeth Warren’s political carrier looks increasingly like a non-starter because she falsely claimed being 1/32 Cherokee.  But at least she didn’t have PhD parents.

I want to see Obama’s high school transcripts.  I’ll settle for his college records, though.

Doug Mataconis doesn’t think Obama’s college records should be an issue this election.  ” isn’t there a statute of limitations on the use of college achievements as evidence of achievement?” — He says.  King Shamus, who led me to that post, thinks that although the college records should have been an issue in 2008, and that Obama’s record as a President is damaging on its own, Obamster’s college days are something to be discussed.

In this election, our short term goal should be getting Romney into the White House, and that means making the economy the dominate issue.  Jim at Conservatives on Fire has a post about the long-term social and cultural issues that undermine any kind of political transformation taking place this election.

Right now it looks like Barack Obama will be a one-term President (via Instapundit).  We have to make sure that Barack Obama is not the only loser in this election.  He has to drag down with him the milieu out of which he came out; the ideas he picked up in college,”community organizing”, law school, Trinity United — on every step of his way up, the ideas that he never abandoned.  All of it needs to come to light, to be discussed, and the consequences of his ideas need to be flushed out.  We have to make sure we are never swindled again.

Wow!  I’m actually done with this post!  We have an Unbirthday party coming up around here, so everything is a bit crazy.  In an unrelated news, a few days ago I got 3 hits from a query for “typical conservative”.  I have to admit being a bit flattered that the internet thinks it’s me.

That right there should be the mission of conservatism for the next…oh, say…50 years.

I figure thats about how long it would take. But it’s worth it.

  3. It never ceases to amaze me how much the Left will dig up the past of conservatives (or those candidates not FAR to the Left. Yet, when the Right asks for some information about a Leftist’s past — I’m speaking of Obama here, of course — the Left says that the past doesn’t matter.

Electing Romney won’t solve all of America’s problems. Not by a long shot. But we must get Obama out of the White House. If we can do that, between 2012 and 2016, we conservatives must not sit back on our laurels. No, indeed! We must make some of kind of foray into the culture wars. Otherwise, next time around, we’ll get stuck with the likes of Obama — if not Obama himself. That could happen, you know. Obama out for one term, then back in for another term.

    • The double standard is awful. I think electing Obama set a horrible precedent. it’s like it’s now possible to have a horrible book out, like Dreams, and not be called on anything that’s in it, to have a racist anti-American “preacher”, etc, and still be elected President.

  4. Thanks for the link.

The bully story was largely discredited but that’s ok… Leftists will simply move on to another smear until one of them sticks.

Amazing how quickly that storm passed, eh? Just a dodge thrown to distract people?
