Happy Independence Day, Oakland-Style

This 4th of July, Oakland anarchists decided to get arrested:

Oakland police said they arrested six people Wednesday evening who were suspected of damaging a police car.

The suspects were also accused of scrawling anti-police graffiti on the walls of police department headquarters.

The arrests were made around 8 p.m. near the main police station on Washington Street.

And get this:

The car that was damaged was parked right outside the police station. The tires were punctured and what appeared to be a letter “A” inside a circle — a symbol commonly associated with anarchist movements — spray painted on the door of the police vehicle.

“Commonly associated”?  I want to know with what ideas and movements the anarchists symbol is associated not commonly.

  1. That’s white person violence… a nice change for Oaktown!

I have only been to Oakland maybe 12 or 13 times in 17 years.

    • If you live in SF there two reasons to go to Oakland. If you are childless, it’s to see a band, but I have a feeling that you have no interest in the kind of music they play there. If you are a parent with young children, it’s to visit Oakland Fairyland.
