Sevastopol Signs up for a Russian Crimea

Sevastopol Russian pageantry:

  1. One has to wonder, from an uninformed American’s point of view that is, what the people want? If they are so enchanted with Putin’s Russia, then perhaps we should leave well enough alone. I abhor the very idea of ripping the Ukraine apart, but if we truly have a pro-Russian bent in the Crimea and also Sevastopol, then why not let it be? It’s clear to me that all the economic sabre rattling the west is doing is basically a lot of face-saving noise, since there isn’t a damn thing we can do about Putin otherwise. Obama has Kerry over there threatening to stain Putin’s shoes if Russia doesn’t back off. And Putin laughed…

    • Our foreign policy is pathetic. How come we didn’t anticipate a partition of Ukraine?
If when Soviet Union fell apart people not only in Crimea, but in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Odessa were asked if they want to be Russia or Ukraine, they’d say “Russia”. They were content to be Ukraine for the time being, but not after Maidan. It’s not going to stop in Crimea. There are street fights in Kharkiv and Odessa, refugees from Odessa asking for protection in Crimea. IMHO because Russia is so weak, we should allow them take more of Ukraine than they can chew; cause them to overstretch.
